Yaksum-Dzongri-Goechala Tour

Located in the western part of Sikkim, this route passes through the forests of the Kanchenjunga National Park. The trek originates from Yaksum (6,200 ft). Enroute one can stay in trekkers' huts and tents. The entire route upto Psoka passes through jungle. One can get a breathtaking view of Kanchenjunga and Mount Pandim from Dzongri Top (14000 ft). At 15400 ft, one can camp at the shores of Samiti Lake at the base of Mount Pandim. From Goechala (17600 ft) the view of Kanchenjunga is quite awe-inspiring.

Suitable trekking periods are April to May, and September to November.

Tour Plan


Day 1
 
From Siliguri Journey to Yaksum (6200 ft) by car which takes about 5-6 hours. Overnight at the hotel in Yaksum.

Day 2
 
From Yaksum trek to Psoka (10500 ft) through Kanchenjunga National Park, coving 10 miles in about 6-7 hours. Overnight at the trekker's hut in Psoka.

Day 3
 
Trek to Dzongri (13400 ft) covering a distance of 7.5 miles in about 4-5 hours. Overnight in tents/trekker's hut in Dzongri.

Day 4
 
Trek to Thansing covering a distance of 3.8 miles in about 4 hours. Overnight at the trekker's hut/tent in Thansing.

Day 5
 
Trek to Samiti Lake (15400 ft) covering a distance of 2.5 miles in about 4 hours. Overnight in tents/trekker's hut in Samiti Lake.

Day 6
 
Trek to Goechala (16800 ft) and back to Thansing covering in all a distance of 8.7 miles in about 8 hours. Overnight in tents/trekker's hut in Thansing.

Day 7
 
Trek back to Psoka via Phedang covering 8.7 miles in about 6-7 hours. Overnight in tents/trekker's hut in Psoka.

Day 8
 
Trek to Yaksum covering 10 miles in about 7 hours. Overnight at the hotel in Yaksum.

Day 9
 
Travel to Siliguri by car in about 5 hours.

Sandakphu-Phalut Tour

This trekking route is in the eastern Indian Himalayas in the north-west corner of the state of West Bengal. The only point in India from where Mt.Everest is visible is on this trekking route. The route to Sandakphu passes through the Singalila National Park situated at an altitude between 6990 ft to 11930 ft. Notable wildlife species that can be seen in this jungle are the red panda,the Himalayan bear,and several species of deer. This trekking route offers magnificient views of some of the worlds highest mountain peaks including the Kanchenjunga, Mount Everest, Makalu, and Lhotse.

This trekking route is open throughout the year except during the monsoon season (June to September).

Tour Plan


Day 1
 
Siliguri – Manebhanjan: We arrive at Siliguri in the morning and then drive to Manebhanjan by car covering a distance of 60 miles in about 4 hours.

Day 2
 
Manebhanjan - Tonglu: We start our trek for Tonglu (10098 ft) early in the morning. It takes about 5 hours to cover 6.8 miles up to the trekker’s hut, where we stay for the night.

Day 3
 
Tonglu – Kalipokhri: Today we trek to Kalipokhri (10257 ft) covering a distance of 6.9 miles in about 5 hours. The route passes through the beautiful Singalila National Park. You may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the rare red Panda. Overnight at trekkers hut in Kalipokhri.

Day 4
 
Kalipokhri – Sandakphu: We start our trek just after breakfast. It takes about 4 hours to cover 5 miles to reach Sandakphu (11992 ft). This is the only place in India from where gets a fantastic view of Mount Everest. View stunning sunset on some of the mighty peaks like the Kanchenjuga, Makalu, Lohtse, Annapurna, Pandim and Siniolchu. Overnight stay at Sandakphu trekkers hut.

Day 5
 
Sandakphu – Phalut: Today we trek to Phalut (11880 ft) through one of the most spectacular route in this region. It takes about 7 hours to cover the 13 miles distance, which is quite easy. The whole route passes over a ridge with the view of the mighty peaks in front of you. Overnight stay in trekkers hut or tent in Phalut.

Day 6
 
 Phalut – Gorkhey: Today we trek to Gorkhey (8910 ft) through the virgin forest of pines and chestnuts. The route is completely downhill and we cover 9.5 miles in 5 hours. Overnight stay in Gorkhey at the trekkers hut.

Day 7
 
Gorkhey – Srikhola: We start for our today’s destination, Srikhola (7544 ft), after breakfast. It is an easy trek and we cover 13 miles in about 6 hours. Overnight at trekkers hut in Srikhola.
 

Day 8
 
Srikhola – Rimbick – Darjeeling: Today we start for the last day of our trek after breakfast. We cover 5 miles in about 2 ˝ hours to reach Rimbick. From Rimbick we travel to Darjeeling by car, which takes about 3 hours. Overnight stay at hotel in Darjeeling.

Day 9
 
 Darjeeling – Siliguri: After some local sightseeing including the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, we travel to Siliguri by car to board evening train for Kolkata.
